Overview

2048 by Octile respects your privacy. Anonymous gameplay statistics may be collected (Android app only). The web version does not send analytics.

Platform Distinction (IMPORTANT): Anonymous gameplay statistics and update checks apply to the Android app build only. The web version does not send analytics and does not perform update checks. Web version: Core gameplay only; no ads, no analytics, no OTA.

Data Collection by Developer (Android Only)

The Android version of this app may collect anonymous gameplay statistics:

Gameplay data: Score, moves, time played, highest tile reached
Anonymous device identifier: UUID generated by app (cannot identify individuals)
Purpose: Analytics for game balance improvements and understanding player progression

This data is sent to api.octile.eu.cc when online (Android only). All data is anonymous and cannot identify individuals.

How Data is Used

Anonymous gameplay data helps us:

Improve game difficulty and balance
Understand player progression patterns
Fix bugs and improve performance

All data is anonymous and cannot identify individuals. We do not create user profiles or track individual players.

Data Sharing

Gameplay data may be sent to our developer server (api.octile.eu.cc) when online (Android app only).

No data is sold to third parties
No cross-app tracking or user profiling
Web version: No developer backend connection

Advertising (Android Only)

The Android app displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

Device advertising identifiers
Approximate location derived from IP address (not precise GPS location)
Ad interaction data for ad performance measurement

This data is collected and handled by Google as an independent data controller. See Google's Privacy Policy for details. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings.

The web version does not display ads.

Update Checks (Android Only)

The Android app may check for available updates from our developer server (2048.octile.eu.cc). Only version information is checked; no personal data is transmitted.

Updates are downloaded in background and applied only when you restart the app. Your current session is never interrupted.

The web version is served from CDN and does not perform update checks.

Local Storage

Game progress, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device. Statistics may be queued locally when offline and sent when connection is available (Android only).

No Personal Data

This app does not collect:

Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
User accounts or login information
Precise GPS location
Cross-app tracking identifiers

Your Rights

You may contact us regarding your data at octileapp+2048@googlegroups.com.

Due to anonymous collection, we cannot identify or delete specific user data. Users may reset the anonymous analytics identifier through the About screen, which will generate a new identifier for future gameplay statistics.

Children's Privacy

This app is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through a third-party service while using this app, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
